Kid Got Roasted Because of FILA Shoes

Kid Got Roasted Because of FILA Shoes

Watch This Kid’s Reaction When Other Kids Roasted Him for Wearing FILA Shoes

As a parent, this makes you think if you are indeed doing more harm than good when you gift your son a new pair of Jordans. There’s nothing really wrong with that, but if you do it enough to make your children think that having “nice” and expensive things is the essence of life, you may want to reevaluate your actions.
This kid is impressive! I do not know how old he is. Honestly, I don’t even know where this video originated from, but it’s evident that this kid who prefers FILA shoes over Jordans is wise beyond his years.
This video has gone viral on the internet, and it is the best reminder, not just for parents but also for kids, that we do not need to place too much value on things. They will not matter a couple of years from now, after all. Nice things do not define who we are as a person. It is what we know and how we treat others that weighs more in life.

8 Things You Can Do Every Day for a Happy Life

8 Things You Can Do Every Day for a Happy Life

Do you believe that it doesn’t take a lot to be truly happy? Or to live a happy life? I believe so, but we do need small reminders because we can easily get side tracked by stress, anxiety and sadness. That’s why I made a list and put it up on my wall as a guide for me to look at everyday.

When I do these 8 things, in some form daily, I feel great:

1. Meditate

I just recently started doing this with the help of MUSE. You don’t need MUSE but it totally helps me and I love it. Meditation is like the most simple thing, yet most people don’t do it. It works to help with EVERY SINGLE area of your life. No joke. Just  try it. Your meditation routine or how you do it doesn’t have to be perfect. All you need to do is get started.

2. Exercise

You can meditate and not exercise and you won’t feel as good as if you do. But, chances are, when you meditate, you will want to exercise. It’s the weirdest thing, but you will want to do things that are good for you and not crave things that aren’t. Exercising makes you feel strong, attractive, healthy and full of life and energy. Nothing can replace it.

3. Learn

Always learn, always improve yourself everyday. Take notice when you learn something and congratulate yourself. It feels great and it is truly essential for a happy life.

4. Do your BEST!

Don’t be lazy. No matter what you do, give it your all. Put your heart into it. You will gain much joy.

5. Appreciate

Throughout your day, or at the end of your day take time to go throughout your day mentally and give thanks for each thing and person from the tiniest things to the biggest. This alone can change your life drastically! Your whole perspective changes when you do this.

6. Be Present

Whatever you are doing, be 100% in that moment. This is where our joy is. This IS OUR LIFE. How can you be present? Be mindful of what you’re doing.

7. LOVE

Love people. Love beauty, kindness, nature… all the good stuff. Say loving things.  Be affectionate. Do kind things for one another.

8. Allow

When you do all or any of these things, something INSIDE of you changes and you get inspiration, get good ideas, get hunches, etc. FOLLOW them. Do the thing, the action that is born from your inspiration in the moment. I call this INSPIRED ACTION.

Make Your Own “Happy Life List”

Get quiet, think, and FEEL….. You don’t have to follow my list. You can also make your own. Use the following questions to guide you:

  • What inspires you?
  • What positively makes you feel great from the inside out?
  • What does a happy life look like to you?

Remember to place your list somewhere you can easily see it, and see it often.
“I love you. Be Positive. Have Freedom” wrote my daughter on the bottom of my list up on the wall. Such wisdom from my 7 year old. Just say and feel those two words… what kinds of feelings come to you?

Hospital Allows Patients to Play POKEMON GO

Hospital Allows Patients to Play POKEMON GO

It’s really not a surprise that there are institutions and companies that have labeled the most played game of today – POKEMON GO – as a distraction. Employees play it during office ours, cars suddenly stop in the middle of the road, students pay more attention to it in class; all of this just to catch pokemon and be on the look out for rare ones. The game, however, isn’t all that bad. This hospital in Michigan actually uses it to get patients out of their rooms.

In the past, young patients at C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital in Ann Arbor, Mich., shuffled down the hallways without speaking to each other, but now it’s not uncommon to see them stop and talk near a Pokemon Go hotspot, according to J.J Bouchard, digital media manager, and certified child life specialist at the hospital.
“It’s a fun way to encourage patients to be mobile,” Bouchard said. “This app is getting patients out of beds and moving around.”
And it really works! Because the hospital looked at the game from a different perspective, they were able to create a positive outcome from playing the game.

Pineapple Whipped #1: How Pineapple Whipped Started

Pineapple Whipped #1: How Pineapple Whipped Started

I am blessed to work at two world class spas in two fabulous hotels here on Maui. These are not your average hotels by any means. These spas are amazing for many reasons, but what I love is that the vision is all about creating amazing experiences for the guests that will be long lasting memories.

We, the employees of the hotels are empowered to make this happen!  I do facials, nails, and body scrubs, so I am fortunate to spend time with my guests anywhere from 5 minutes to 2 hours or even longer. These are one on one and can get into some really great conversations.

When I am having a conversation with my guest, sometimes an idea may spring up within me  and I call that “just a little bit of inspiration”. What I love is that I can follow that inspiration and I can do something that I may think about but  not be able to do on my own. At both of my jobs, I am empowered to talk to a manager and make little things happen, little things that can brighten someone’s day and to me the LITTLE THINGS in life are actually the BIG THINGS!  So as I am fortunate enough to experience these things with the guests, I would like to share them with you.

A husband and a wife came into the salon to do their nails. They were very, very fun, outgoing, talkative, friendly so it was already fun to begin with. But, as myself and the other nail tech got to talk to them, we realized these people were really special.

The wife was a school teacher and she had a child in her class that was not in a good situation at home and was going to be taken out of her home. This teacher wanted to protect this little child. Not ever planning any of this, her and her husband actually became foster parents to this little girl and her brother.

They talked about the ups and the downs. You could really hear about the children and what they were going through and how the boy had a hard time trusting and how they flourished through this love and supportive home. Also, the things their own children went through because these kids were in their home.

It was a heartwarming story to hear how these two people did what they did for these children. It really touched me and the other nail tech I was working with. I would have literally just come to work just to hear their stories. I had chicken skin so many times just hearing what all of them were going through and learning through all this and how love was making it better.

This couple mentioned that they were on the island of Maui about 15 years ago for their wedding anniversary. They said they had this drink when they were here and it was so great and it was called Pineapple Whip. They said it was the best drink they ever had. For 15 years they had been dreaming of coming back to Hawaii and having this special drink again. They didn’t just mention it, They went OFF about it!!! They kept talking about how great it was and how sweet it was and on and on. Then they asked me where they could get one.

I said, You know, I have never heard of it. They were soooo bummed! They thought if I lived here and I have never heard of it, that’s really bad. They were really disappointed. Well I got this LITTLE IDEA, this LITTLE INSPIRATION but I did not say anything. I just finished their treatments. I said goodbye to them and thanked them for meeting.

When I was done I researched online and the drink had been sold at a store but since was closed down.  I went outside and talked to my manager. I asked her if she knew where we could find this drink. My manager and I talked and thought maybe our chef could make it? She made some phone calls and sent some emails out. And that was it.

The next day, I ran into the director of our spa. She said “Hey Dana, you know the guests you did yesterday, Mr. and Mrs. ______? “
“Yes of course!” I said.
“We are going to get that drink for them, that pineapple whip!”
“Are you serious?! That would be so awesome!”
and she said “yes, we are going to surprise them with the drink today when they come to the spa for their treatments!”
Later on that day I was doing a pedicure on a guest and I felt someone staring at me. I turned my  head and there they were, these two happy guests were staring at me in their spa robes, really close to each other with a big smile on their face and then slurping away on their Pineapple Whips! And they were just so happy! They said Dana we just want to thank you so much! Just the smile on their face was just priceless. Come to find out the hotel even took a picture of them drinking their pineapple whip , framed it and sent it to their room . That will be a lifetime memory for them!

Even though it was something SO SIMPLE,  it was so fun to do. Sometimes it just takes a little extra time out of your day to do something, but that little tiny something can mean something so amazing to another person.

So when you get that feeling of INSPIRATION for anything small or anything big, see what you can do to act upon it. Maybe you can’t do something at your work  and don’t have the support like I do or maybe you do… but just FOLLOW THAT INSPIRATION everyday and LIFE IS REALLY GREAT!

Ziva Morning Routine and Morning Meditation

Ziva Morning Routine and Morning Meditation

Start Your Day the Ziva Way

This wonderful lady is Emily Fletcher from Ziva Meditation. She ran into meditation and found out how it improved her life and followed inspiration. She’s now teaching others to do the same and that’s what Ziva Meditation is about. Enough about that though and let’s get in to this wonderful morning routine that prepares you for your morning meditation.

What is she doing in the video?

Step 1: Swishing Oil

This is known as Oil Pulling. Oil Pulling is an ancient Ayurvedic dental technique that requires you to swish 1 table spoon of oil in your mouth for 10-15mins on an empty stomach.
Let’s back track a little bit, though, and talk about what Ayurvedic is:
Ayurvedic medicine evolved in India, and is considered to be the world’s oldest healthcare system. It is named for the Sanskrit word Ayurvedameaning the “science of life.” If that sounds like an all-encompassing definition, it is. Ayurvedic medicine is entirely holistic.
Source
So, yes, oil pulling is an ancient practice, but it’s still as effective as it first started. Well, there have been debates, but there are people who swear by it. Just ask Hollywood actresses Gwenyth Paltrow and Shailene Woodley who are big fans of the practice according to Hello Magazine.
Some of the benefits that you’ll get:

  • No more bad breath
  • Whiter teeth
  • Clearer skin
  • Improves Oral Health (no more bleeding gums and cavities)
  • Improve the immune System
  • Recommendation: For added benefits, you can add drops of essential oils to your 1tbsp of raw coconut oil. Try doTerra’s peppermint, onguard or oregano essential oil.
Have questions on doTerra essential oils? Ask me.

Reminder:

While swishing the oil inside your mouth, you can do other stuff like what Emily is doing on her video – make the bed, brush your hair, go to the bathroom and so on. It doesn’t have to be what Emily is doing exactly, but make use of your time! You’ll be swishing for 10-15mins, might as well make yourself useful while swishing.

Step 2: Acupressure Mat

After I watched this video, I got curious with the mat she was stepping on. This is called an acupressure mat. I got one of my own and it came with a pillow. I recently wrote a review about it which you can read here.
Before her morning meditation, Emily steps onto the mat to wake up her body. The acupressure mat (and pillow) is said to:

  • Reduce pain naturally
  • Increase energy
  • Improve blood circulation
  • Relax the body and the muscles
  • Provide stress relief

The last I used mine was when I had a headache. Again, you can check my review here.

Step 3: Swishing Done. Brush Teeth.

Emily then spits out the oil after a good 10-15mins of swishing. She then brushes her teeth which, I imagine, feels really clean.

Step 4: Warm Water

The next thing Emily does is to get warm water (2/3 hot, 1/3 room temperature in a mug). Now, why is she drinking warm water? Because there are some unexpected benefits to drinking warm or hot water:

  • Helps with weight loss
  • Helps with nasal and throat congestion
  • Promotes body detoxification
  • Aids in digestion
  • Enhances blood circulation

Maybe we should all think about drinking warm or hot water if it has this many benefits, don’t you think?
Recommendation: I’m all for added benefits so I add in a drop or two of doTerra’s lemon essential oil into my warm water. The lemon oil helps boost my immune system as well as help elevate my mood.

Ask me more about doTerra’s Lemon Essential Oil here.

Step 5: Ayurvedic Breath Exercises

Emily talks about these exercises in another video (which you can see below). It’s basically done to bring in more oxygen into your body and to prepare you (physically and mentally) for your morning meditation session.

Step 6: Morning Meditation

The last step is for you to do your morning meditation. As for how you can actually meditate, there are plenty of videos on YouTube and blogs that teach you how. As mentioned, Ziva Meditations teaches people who to meditate so it would be helpful if you go to Emily Fletcher’s sites:
